Alankars

A very important part of the Indian Classical Music is Alankar. Now the question is What is Alankar?


Alankar is a sanskrit word which means ornaments. As ornaments are used to enhance the beauty of the person, Alankars in Indian Classical Music are used to enhance the existing beauty of the genre.


Alankars comprises of the following things:
  1. Meend
  2. Khatka/ Gitkari
  3. Zamzama
  4. Murki
  5. Andolan 
  6. Gamak (Kampit Gamak is used in Karnatic music)
  7. Kan
  8. Sparsh
  9. Krintan
